The gig, part of the debut In The City of New York music conference was originally scheduled to take place at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square with the Happy Mondays as headliners. However, due to visa issues, the Happy Mondays were forced to cancel the appearance, forcing its move to the smaller downtown venue. Opening with 'You Know I Love You', The Pigeon Detectives tore through their very first New York show with tracks including 'I Found Out', 'Stop Or Go' and 'Take Her Back'. Taking to the stage at around 12.45am, The Rakes managed to hold on to the late-night crowd and buoy them up with such tracks as 'Trouble', 'We Are All Animals' and 'When Tom Cruz Cries'. In The City of New York continues tonight with Biffy Clyro, Enter Shikari and Blood Red Shoes playing Highline Ballroom. |
